As fall approaches and the nights grow longer, the green, red and blue hues of the aurora borealis become visible changing shape as they dance across the sky. The aurora is a visible form of ionized gases caused by electromagnetic energy drawn to the earth's poles from the sun. Thus, far northern locations are best for viewing this astronomical phenomenon called “northern lights”. |
