 Promise of Spring
Promise of Spring - click for larger image... The snow is white and so bright, - a pristine reminder that the sun is increasing in strength day by day. The snow is gone from the trees. Winter’s harsh grip will soon loosen and fall away.

This is the St. Elias Mountain Range, - the largest group of great peaks on the continent, including massive 5,959-metre Mount Logan, the highest mountain in Canada. Nearby Mount Saint Elias (5489m) is the second highest in the United States and the third highest north of Mexico. This is the highest coastal range in the world. The Saint Elias’ exceed the Himalayas in vertical relief, with hundreds of sharp ice-clad peaks rising dramatically above sea-level glaciers.

These mountains are magnificent. One always seems to be looking up. That's how tall they are.

I just put the finishing touches on this today. Now on to the turkey.

 Spruce Along The Yukon
Spruce Along The Yukon - click for larger image... Spruce-dominated coniferous forests cover the majority of the upper Yukon region. These White spruce forests occur on warmer, drier sites on hillsides, in timberline areas, and along rivers.

The Yukon River is 3185 km long, the fifth-longest river in North America. It rises in Tagish Lake on the northern BC border, flows north and northwest across the Yukon and into Alaska, eventually emptying into the Bering Sea.

 Yukon Lily
Yukon Lily - click for larger image... This red flower, better known as the prairie lily or the western wood lily, grows across western North America south to New Mexico and North into the Yukon.

It is Saskatchewan's floral emblem appearing on the Saskatchewan flag.

Rising above a straight stem with narrow leaves, this lily grows one to three large flowers. Each has six bright orange-red petals forming a large upright bell.

This Lily grew near our sidewalk beside our house.
